Ebola Outbreak Prompts UAE Travel Advisory

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of the United Arab Emirates has issued a travel advisory for its nationals and residents, recommending against non-essential travel to the Republic of Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and the Republic of South Sudan. This guidance comes in response to the developing public health situation concerning the Ebola virus disease (EVD) in these regions.

Ensuring Citizen Safety Abroad

The advisory underscores the UAE’s dedication to safeguarding the health and safety of its citizens internationally. MoFA emphasized the critical importance of adhering to all travel advisories and guidelines it disseminates. For UAE nationals currently residing in or visiting these three African nations, the Ministry urges heightened vigilance and strict compliance with health and safety directives issued by local government bodies.

Emergency Contacts and Registration

To further ensure their well-being, UAE citizens in Uganda, the DRC, and South Sudan are strongly encouraged to register with the ‘Twajudi’ service. This service allows the Ministry to maintain contact and provide assistance during emergencies. In urgent situations, UAE nationals abroad can reach the Ministry through its dedicated emergency hotline: +97180024.

This proactive measure by the UAE government reflects its commitment to protecting its population from potential health risks associated with international travel, particularly in areas experiencing public health crises like the Ebola outbreak.
